Australian natives come from tropical areas to cold temperate snow covered mountains, and from inland deserts to fertile wet rainforests. Develop your ability to identify, select, cultivate and plan a management program, for appropriate varieties of Australian native plants, in a wide variety of situations.  This course is relevant to any part of Australia, and equally to most other parts of the world.

Biochemistry of Animal and Human (I)

  Biochemistry is at the base of most health sciences, prepare yourself for your health science career by studying biochemistry. Biochemistry I (Animal) is an introductory course to biochemistry.  This course is similar to Biochemistry I (Plants) with a focus on animal biochemistry.  Biochemistry provides the knowledge base for all human and animals health studies. In order to help you get the most out of the course we initially walk you through the fundamentals of chemistry including atomic structure, the periodic table, molecules, nomenclature, organic chemistry and more before investigating common organic compounds such as carbohydrates, lipids and more.  Lessons cover: introduction to biochemistry, lipids, proteins, enzymes, nucleic acids, thermo regulation, carbohydrate metabolism, absorption, acidity, alkalinity, chemical analysis, and industry applications. Suggested Prior Learning: Some secondary school chemistry will be helpful though it is not essential.

Bushcraft And Wilderness Activities (Survival Skills)

  Learn how to survive in the wild! Whether on day or overnight trips, whenever a group goes on a trip into natural areas they need to be prepared, and lead by someone who has an adequate level of survival skills.  Every week in Australia there are reports of individuals and groups missing in the bush, often quite close to help, occasionally these events are fatal, but they don't have to be This course builds an understanding of the things you are likely to confront when you leave civilisation; and provides a foundation for preparing yourself and those who accompany you for any excursion into a natural area. This course is valuable to people who may have a recreational interest in wilderness exploration, orienteers, tour guides, scout leaders, or ecotour business owners.

Conservation & Environmental Management

  START YOUR CAREER IN ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION HEREDevelop a foundation for managing conservation of different environments. The course reviews basic ecology and environmental problems such as pollution and land degradation before considering varying aspects of conservation. Are you a Primary Producer or Indigenous Land Owner?   This course has been assessed and approved by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries & Forestry as being suitable for funding for participants that meet the selection criteria. Wildlife Management

  Our Wildlife Management course is designed for those who wish to work to conserve wildlife whether it's in the wild, in zoos or working with captive breeding programs. Wildlife management is the manipulation of wild animal populations and their habitats for the benefit of both humans and wildlife. Wildlife management includes running parks and reserves, altering and rehabilitating wildlife habitats, pest control, protecting human life and property and managing harvests of wildlife. Controlling populations of wildlife may take one of the following forms: Managing wildlife habitats Managing people Managing individual animals in populations to either change or cause a population to remain constant. The techniques and types of wildlife management vary depending on your location, and as with any job, you will find that you will need to carry out research into the local methods and types of wildlife management. This course is designed to give students a broad based introduction to the principles and practices of wildlife management common to many species around the globe.

Clinical Science

  This course is designed to appeal to health care professionals who wish to develop their underpinning knowledge, the allied practitioner who needs to expand their basic clinical understanding and skills, and those who have a personal interest in the subject. The first five modules are related to body systems, and will include details of common conditions and treatments relative to its function and anatomy. The following modules are devoted to specific elements of clinical practice, and will also refer back to body systems to form an integrated and holistic approach. There will also be activities within some of the modules for revision and clarification purposes – these activities will be formative. A glossary will also be included in the majority of modules to act as a useful reference. The course is divided into ten modules, each with an associated assignment. Following completion of all ten modules, students will be required to complete a project module. The course finishes with an online examination. Entry Requirements All students must per 16 years of age and above. Assessment Method Tutor marked assignments and a final online multiple choice examination.
