Cardio Respiratory Performance (Human Movement III)

  Cardiorespiratory Performance is ideal for students with a biological science background, and is also an excellent addition to a Certificate or higher level course in health and biology fields. Students will cover a variety of related topics in order to learn how the cardiovascular and respiratory systems function cooperatively to keep the body alive.  Monitoring and regulatory mechanisms governing cardiorespiratory functions are investigated, along with the physical laws and biochemical processes that explain how and why the cardiorespiratory system works in the way it does.  From gas exchange, cellular energy production, cardiomyocyte contraction, alveolar structure and function, gas laws, blood physiology and cellular oxygen demand, students will develop a sound understanding of breathing and blood flow.

Herbal Aromatherapy

  Start studying and develop an understanding of the safe use of Aromatherapy oils; and their production.  This course is aimed at the introductory level of education in Aromatherapy. It is suitable for those wishing to gain knowledge of using Aromatherapy in the home or for those working in a related discipline.Knowing the botanical names of plants and how they are derived is an important part of Aromatherapy. Most people know essential oils by their common names, such as Lavender, Thyme or Eucalyptus. For instance, there are several different types of plant that are commonly known as Lavender, and more than one of these plants are used to produce lavender oil. Oil distilled from True Lavender, or Lavandula angustifolia, is the highest quality lavender oil. However, lavender can also be distilled from Lavandula x intermedia and Lavandula latifolia. All three smell very similar, and can even be confusing for an experienced aromatherapist, but the chemical composition of Lavandula angustifolia is far superior to the other two species and is a much better therapeutic oil.

This course is the FOUNDATION for understanding the human body; and the first step toward further studies or a career in health services or fitness industries. It provides credit toward qualifications in many things, including naturopathy, fitness, health etc.

Human Nutrition Foundations (I)

  This course is your first step toward an in depth understanding of human nutrition. It provides complimentary skills for people involved with food and health across a very wide range of vocations, for example, health or fitness professionals, chef's, food sales staff, carers ... This course should be viewed as a starting point for persons wanting to work more specifically in the field of nutrition and also provides the individual with the knowledge needed to better manage their own diet, not just the diets of those around them. Important: To work as a nutritionist or prescribe food supplements in most developed countries you will be required to do more study than the 100 hours in this course.  This 100 hour short course is often used as part of Certificates and Diplomas in Nutrition.

Course Aim To explain all aspects of how nutrition affects weight loss. It is an ideal course for people working with children in the child care industry. The Building Environment & Health (Healthy Buildings II)

  Develops skills to evaluate, describe and explain how physical characteristics of a building and its surrounds have an impact upon the habitability of the building and human health.   NEW - Therapeutic nutrition is the provision of nutrients to maintain and/ or restore optimal nutrition and health. Therapeutic diets may be required as therapy for a disease e.g. coeliac disease or to treat malnutrition arising from low energy and nutrient intakes or due to increased energy and nutrient needs.
